Law Enforcement Data Availability (LEDA)
LEDA

The effectiveness and the efficiency of Law Enforcement would be increased if accurate, consistent, and reliable data were available in a timely manner at a single source. Data pertaining to a specific event can be inaccurate, incomplete, or even contradictory due to simple reasons such as having been recorded by different people with different handwriting at different times and for different purposes. For example, an accident can also be connected to a citation, medical emergency, etc. Each event will require filling out a form with some fields being the same and some different.

If all data recorded by the first officer is immediately stored in a central data warehouse, a second officer would have that data available and would need only add the information not previously recorded.

Not only would data be more accurate and sooner available, but also officer safety would be increased because the officer would need to spent less time recording.

Our vision of improved Law Enforcement Data Availability can best be illustrated with the Data Warehouse Information Cube. Data would be stored at this single source at the time of origination.

The 'cube' can be sliced and diced according to any individual's or agency's data needs.
